The project \u2018Performing Democracy: Urban Activism for Civic Democracy\u2019 tackles the need for the community to assume its role and responsibility in city-making processes through increased participation in the processes that identify, raise, and address issues of collective concern. This project aims to achieve its objectives through a practical participatory approach, close step-by-step consultations with the community, and a series of hands-on original urban provo-actions followed by concrete urban interventions to address one particular issue of concern to the community. The scope and nature of the urban activism, concrete interventions is defined in collaboration with the community, who also participate in implementing the urban activism (solution). The process, urban activism examples and lessons learnt will be widely disseminated through media, a dedicated publication, and full-length documentary.<\/p>\n

The goals of this project are:
\n1. To strengthen the role and responsibilities of citizens, as key elements in local democracy and development and integration processes of our cities;
\n2. To instill among citizens the participatory culture in city-making processes, increasing the scope and variety of city-citizen interaction, through means of urban activism, public art, and structured interventions in the city.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
