Professional Fellows Program Alumni and their US Mentors meet with the Deputy Public Affairs Officer at the US Embassy in Tirana

Today we had the pleasure to bring together at Co-PLAN several esteemed partners and guests who make the Professional Fellows Program both possible and a valuable experience for Albanian community organizers, including representatives from the Public Affairs Office at the US Embassy in Tirana – Deputy Public Affairs Officer Amanda Roberson, and the professional fellows delegation from 2022.

The delegation of community organizers who returned from an exchange experience in the US during 2022, were joined by their US Mentors Larry Fletcher, Miss Sarah Jane Knoy, and Mentor Hector Vaca Cruz who have travelled to Albania to visit and further support their mentees in the process of introducing and consolidating community organizing practices in their respective communities.

During the meeting, we had the opportunity to hear from the Professional Fellows Program Alumni how they plan to further the work with their respective causes. Interesting first impressions were shared by the mentors on Albania and the potential for the community organizing practices in addressing and helping reduce social phenomenon such as mass migration.

The meeting was then followed by a workshop lead by the three mentors on community organizing and the role it can play in bringing about good change to communities.

Deputy Public Affairs Officer Amanda Roberson highlighted the importance on the Alumni furthering the work initiated in the US host organizations, staying engaged and involved, and making use of all opportunities to cooperate among one-another and other change actors.
