As part of the “EFFORT” project, implemented by the Municipality of Junik, the Municipality of Mirdita and Co-PLAN, and supported by the European Union, an awareness-raising day titled “You Are the Energy of Junik”, was organized in Junik. The event aimed to engage citizens, particularly young people, in understanding the importance of renewable energy and energy efficiency, while also promoting dialogue among local institutions, civil society, and businesses.

The day opened with an official meeting held at the premises of Junik Municipality, where welcoming remarks were delivered by the Mayor of Junik, Mr. Ruzhdi Shehu, together with representatives of Co-PLAN and the EU Delegation to Tirana, represented by Mr. Jean-Noel Gangloff. The opening session emphasized the importance of the EFFORT Project in advancing energy-efficient buildings and promoting sustainable energy practices in Junik and Mirdita.

Representatives of Co-PLAN, the EU Delegation to Tirana, Junik and Mirdita Municipalities also met with local stakeholders, including educational institutions, civil society organizations, and businesses, to exchange ideas on how investments in energy efficiency and renewable energy can support the sustainable development of both municipalities.

Following the discussions, participants joined an open exchange on energy efficiency challenges and opportunities, and visited the “Coloring the Future” exhibition, which showcased paintings by local primary and lower secondary school students depicting their vision of a cleaner and more sustainable future. The program continued with the screening of short awareness videos titled “POWER JU UP”, prepared by students, followed by the reading of student essays and a practical demonstration of the “Solar Work Case”, an educational toolkit showcasing the functioning of photovoltaic panels.

The day concluded with a communal lunch, offering space for further exchanges on the role of local communities and institutions in advancing the green transition.
