Bashki të Forta (Stronger Municipalities) organizes a workshop on social inclusion in Lezhë
As part of the Bashki të Forta (Stronger Municipalities) program, a workshop was held in Lezhë on social inclusion, transparency, and strengthening partnerships for sustainable waste management at the local government level.
The event brought together representatives from the municipalities of Lezhë, Shkodër, Mirditë, and Kukës, as well as participants from the media and civil society, who discussed the importance of social inclusion, particularly the involvement of vulnerable groups, throughout the waste management process. The role of the media in informing, raising awareness, and investigating the quality of public services was also a key part of the discussion.
During the workshop, participants also addressed the need for civil society engagement in educational and awareness-raising activities on waste management, as well as the role of NGOs in monitoring processes, empowering vulnerable groups, promoting the green economy, and fostering collaboration among different actors in decision-making.
A dedicated session also focused on the importance of transparency and the fight against corruption as essential elements for sustainable waste management.
The workshop was organized by Co-PLAN, Metropolis sh.p.k., and the Bashki të Forta program, which provides intensive technical assistance for improving waste management services in six Albanian municipalities: Shkodër, Lezhë, Kukës, Mirditë, Shijak, and Dibër.
