GreenAL roundtable: Albania’s environmental progress towards EU integration – CSO perspectives
GreenAL held the roundtable “Environmental Progress towards the EU: The Perspective of CSOs”, contributing to the broader discussion on Albania’s environmental progress towards EU integration, where key issues related to the environment, energy, transport, and climate change (Cluster 4) were addressed.
The meeting opened with a presentation of the “Air Quality Monitoring Assessment – Policy Recommendations Document” by the Executive Director of Milieukontakt Albania, Ms. Valbona Mazreku. This was followed by the presentation of the policy recommendations “Forest Restoration – Towards a National Policy for Sustainable and Community-Based Reforestation”, delivered by Ms. Anisa Coniku, Environmental Expert and specialist at Trees for Albania.
The GreenAL Project Manager at CoPlan, Mr. Imeldi Sokoli, together with CoPlan’s Spatial planning and Regional Development Expert, Ms. Kejt Dhrami, provided an overview of the developments to date across the themes of Cluster 4 following the publication of the European Commission’s 2025 Progress Report, and facilitated the discussions within the network.
The roundtable is an annual event that supports the GreenAL network in drafting a dedicated document reflecting the concerns and proposals of civil society organizations regarding the themes of Cluster 4. The document will also contribute to ongoing discussions on Albania environmental progress EU integration, informing both national institutions and the European Union on priorities for the country’s green transition.

It serves not only as a tool to address issues related to the environment, energy, transport, and climate change, but also to inform the EU’s assessments and recommendations through the annual Progress Report.
Following the meeting, and after a final round of collecting comments and recommendations from civil society organizations, GreenAL will publish the document, making it accessible to both the public and institutions.
