Intensive Technical Assistance for Improving Waste Management Services in Six LGUs of Albania
This project provides targeted technical assistance to six Albanian municipalities to improve waste management services, enhance transparency, and promote inclusive practices in line with national and EU standards.
Key components of the project include:
- Tailored technical assistance for each LGU to improve waste service delivery, financial planning, and monitoring.
- Support for drafting and communicating local waste management impact reports to enhance public accountability.
- Engagement of civil society and media in monitoring service performance and enforcing anti-corruption measures.
- Social inclusion activities to involve marginalized groups in WM initiatives.
- Training curricula and capacity-building modules.
- Policy support for the implementation of the new Integrated Waste Management Law and alignment with EU directives.
Expected results:
- Improved quality, coverage, and sustainability of waste management services in six municipalities.
- Increased transparency, accountability, and citizen engagement in waste-related decision-making.
- Strengthened municipal capacities in service planning, costing, and compliance with national and EU policies.
- Greater social inclusion and employment opportunities in the waste sector for marginalized groups.
