The first regional meeting for the exchange of good practices and knowledge, within the project “Better opportunities for seasonal workers in Southeast Europe”

During the dates from April 25 to 28, 2023, within the framework of the project “Better opportunities for seasonal workers in Southeast Europe”, a project financed by GIZ Albania and focusing on the 6 economies of the Western Balkans, the first regional meeting for the exchange of good practices and knowledge was organized in Budva.

This meeting enabled the participating institutions of the Western Balkan economies to exchange experiences so far regarding the journey towards the regulation of seasonal work. It was also discussed the challenges and steps towards a sound reform in the respective areas of interest, such as agriculture and tourism.

While the partners had the opportunity to benefit from the experience of the application of the reform in Serbia, the issues related to the drafting of a special legal framework for the regulation of seasonal work and the possibilities of setting up a simplified system of their registration were discussed in detail.

The Albanian working group participated in this meeting through representatives from the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the Institute of Social Insurance, the General Directorate of Taxes, and coordinated by Fiona Imami, the expert of the Co-PLAN Institute for Habitat Development, as a local partner of GIZ for the implementation of this project.
